Grappler+ dip switches

 I assume you mean the Grappler+ switches.. This is what it says in my copy of
the operator's manual:
 Dip Switch Positions                1*    2    3    4
 Epson Dot Matrix printers          off   on   on   on

 *Switch 1 controls the MSB (Most Significant Bit, or 8th data bit) When this
switch is in the ON (+) position the MSB is NOT transmitted to the printer.
When the switch is in the OFF (-) position, the MSB is under software control
(see Ctrl-H and Ctrl-X under Text commands).
 
 There is no further explanation of what each switch is for, perhaps someone
knows or can draw a conclusion from the abilities/set-up of the above
printers. In any case, use the Apple Dot Matrix settings for a Hewlett Packard
Deskjet 500 printer.
