Converting files from Apple II to MAC?

I have a friend who has text files on her APPLE II.  She needs to get them
over to her MAC.  I found some sort of 5.5 Apple drive.  It looks like it
has a connector that is more the an RS-232 (more pins).  Will this fit into
an APPLE II?  Can I unload files into ASCII, write them to 5.5 disks then
hook the drive up to a MAC and load them up?  What is the simplest was...NO,
there is no network involved here...just 2 pieces of Apple equipment.
