Even then, it would seem to depend on what you want it to do. From the
FAQ on audio file formats (etc):
machine bits max sampling rate #output channels
Apple IIgs 8 32k / >70k 16(st)
NeXT U-LAW,8,16 44.1k 1(st)
Obviously the NeXT can play a higher-quality sample with 16-bits (or u-law),
but it can only play one sample at that quality. You can mix channels
together in order to play MODs or the like, but that gets tired pretty
quickly (listen to a PC SB card for instance ;) .
