IIe upgrade?

     I just had given to me a IIe for my kid.  What is a better path to
upgrade the IIe.  Should I do it myself and if so I heard earlier that you
can just buy everything needed from some company. Or should I take it to a
dealer.  I would appreciate any feedback relavent to this.
