DMA at 2.8 MHz?
I little while ago, there was a discussion about the GS being able to handle
DMA at 2.8MHz. This sparked my curiosity, and I wrote to CVTech@aol.com to
find out if the RamFAST would beable to do 2.8 MHz on the GS (since the Rev D.
board only works in the GS anyway). I got this letter back:

The motherboard won't allow a DMA speed above 1 meg/second. I wish it
could because the RF could actually do DMA at a tad over 3 meg/sec. The IO
connectors are designed to use 2e peripherals that run at 1Mhz and apple's
design guys are boneheads and didn't allow for high speed peripherals that
could run at 2.8Mhz.

Drew
Is Drew mistaken? Are there some technotes I can refer him to? Is the
RamFAST connecting with circuits and stuff only able to run at 2.8 MHz,
leaving the limit at 1Mhz (similar to problem Scott Gentry seemed to have
while trying to do DMA at 2.8Mhz with his video capturing board)? Or did I
misinterpret the whole conversation? :) I think it would be cool to have the
RamFAST run at 2.8MHz. :)
Disclaimer: For those who think I'm trying to show Drew up or something, I
have to say you're VERY mistaken. I just want to know if it is possible.
