I realize I said this in mail too, but:

You aren't (necessarily) editing a .rez file. You can edit the resources
_directly_ without the need for a Rez step.  I'm referring to the use of
programs like Genesys and Foundation.  Unfortunately Genesys doesn't do 
6.0 resources, and Foundation's graphical editors aren't finished, but 
for many resouces you can do easy "live" editing of the resources without
a Rez step.
