rCtlColorTbl resource

So does anyone know how to use the control color table resource?
I've tried everything I could think off and all I get is a black
popup menu or list (everything the background, text, etc. is black).
I've followed what it said in the Toolbox Reference Manuals and
I've even tried using Design Master to create a colored popup menu
(for some reason it doesn't do colored lists) and the rez source that
comes out of it has a rCtlColorTbl resource, but the id of it is
not listed in the field in the control resource that is reserved to
hold the id of the color table (weird!) and just using it the way it
is doesn't work because it looks for an rCtlColorTbl resource that
has and id of 0.

Basically what I'm trying to do is to create a list and have the
background be white and the text be black in normal mode, then when
something is selected, I want the background to be white, the text to
be black and the highlight color to be green. So if anyone knows any
way of doing this, let me know, I'd gladly appreciate the help.
