It's an editor, not a programming language. You CAN'T program the editor
itself per-se, but why would you need to when you have METAL?
You can simply call the editor with the approriate file you'd like to edit
directly from inside the code. Plus, METAL has a quoting external that would
quote the file for you and re-format it to 80 columns.

To be honest, writing a "MuGS" or "ELM" style offline Mail reader is one of
the projects on the top of my list AFTER I get UUCP-g done. It would be rather
simple actually.

In a sense, I already -HAVE- an offline reader in the form of FutureVision
5.0. I have been reading / replying to mail for about 3 months now, and it's
been open to the public now for about a week. 

Which brings me to this announcement...Anyone that needs to get an Internet
mail account, but cannot (Say a student over the Summer etc..) may get one
free from my BBS system.

All you have to do is call up and register. You'll get your own "Home"
directory to store files in (Grab Binscii files from mail and store them in
your own work directory, then Unbinscii them on my system and D-load them) as
well as your own Internet E-mail address.

Can't beat the price and if you NEED to stay in touch with people then it's a
good alternative. It's not UNIX, but it's a very workable alternative.
