DeskJet 500 - refill ink QUESTION!

I have a DeskJet 500 printer (which I LOVE) and I have a question about the
kind of refill ink different folks are using.  I used the refill ink from
'Computer Friends' - it seems to be water soluable - runs when gets wet.

What are the experiences of some other net users?

I really would like to use refill ink because it would so much cheaper but
the ink from Computer Friends is unacceptable.  I am now back to using
cartridges with the orginal ink (not refilled) and just went through a 
cartridge in 3 days.  At $19 a cartridge - that adds up.

I would really like to see a discussion on this.  I would find it helpful
as I think present and future users of DeskJet (and other inkjet printers)
would too.
