I don't know about the driver, but the big difference between the 500c
and the 550c is that the 500c has a black ink cartridge -or- a color
cartridge. So if you want to print back and color together, you have
to use the color cartridge to simulate black - red, green, and blue
(or whatever the three colors are) dumped on top of each other. The
result is not a true black, but something more like a dark gray (I
haven't seen the output, so my description may be off a little bit.)

It's Mac only at the moment. It only has a SCSI interface port, and I
think that all of the image proceesing is done by the computer (ala
the Stylewriter).

I saw some output, and wasn't too impressed. The colors seemed faded.

I was looking to buy a 550c, but I like the crispness of laser
printers better, so I'm going to buy one of those color laser
printers. (Yeah, right. :-)
