Re: Printers for the Apple IIGS?

The DeskJet 500 is a good choice. It works with AppleWorks with some work
or by using Quality Computers' SuperPatch. There are Print Manager drivers
for desktop applications - compatible with AppleWork GS, Platinum Paint,
and a lot more.

There is StyleWriter driver for desktop apps, but the StyleWriter cannot
be used with AppleWorks or other 8-bit programs.

The DeskWriter might be usable with desktop apps with a high-speed port
driver that is available for downloading some places, but you may as well
get a DeskJet.

There are also good laser printers. My roommate and I are sharing an
Epson Action laser printer - his PC is on the parallel port and my IIGS
usually running AppleWorks is on the serial port. Any HP compatible
laser printer will work with AppleWorks. There are drivers (Indepenedence
and Harmonie) for HP laser printers to work with desktop apps.
Postscript printers will also work. Desktop drivers are supplied by Apple,
as well as a program to make a laser emulate the ImageWriter for use
with 8-bit apps.
