IN THE END, THE SWAP OF THE PATINUM IIE[Cn the In the end, the swap of the platinum IIe upper caseing (keyboard and 
numeric keypad) with the equivalent upper on the "middle IIe" (beige
caseing, brown keys with black characterists imprinted thereon) was 
totally successful:  All screw holes etc. matched up perfectly.  It
was unnecessarey to remove the power supply or the interface cards or
the ZIP CHIP.   But those with "early IIe" version will not have
this high compatibility with the platinum IIe casing:  the "early IIe" 
has very different screw holes locations and even cover size relative
to the mid= "middle IIe" or the "platinum IIe."
