New hard-drive-on-a-card (Was Re: Where's the EXPO news ??)

Just to get it right.
Is this thing a hard disk which is connected to a controller *card* which in
turn must be plugged in a slotted Apple II ? (Like AE's Vulcan)
or
Is this thing a hard disk with a built-in controller which can be connected
to the SmartPort on a //c/IIGS or a disk controller in other slotted Apple IIs ?
(Like CirTech's CT20c)

This confuses me. What kind of SmartPort support do you talk (ahem, write) about ?
Can this hard disk be connected to the SmartPort ? Or can SmartPort devices be
connected to this drive ?
