Apple has an interesting variation on the industry standard pricing schemes.
They take the cost of equipment, add the amortized cost of R&D, add a 40%
markup, then mutiply by pi. That is the suggested retail price of their
CPUs and peripherals.
I theorized the above when purchasing my II+ long ago, and it seems to have
held true through the //e, IIGS, and an infinite number of Mac lines. I'm
offering 3:1 that it will apply to Newton too.
