Re: "Real" Multitasking (Re: GNO questions...)

Ian, it IS indeed very annoying. While most of you know my opinion and
I do not intend to talk about these silly things anymore, I'm really
getting tired of seeing all the time hints and references to this old
topic. Actually - you can quote me at any time - I don't care what
method is better.
 
I'm a desktop lover because UNIX stuff goes beyond my gray cells. I
hate typing long commands and pathnames, and the only chapter I
understood in the ORCA shell manual was the foreword. IT'S NOT MY
TASTE.
 
So please allow me to have another favorite. "Henrik's party" (how I
hate this description) has some logic and good reasons why they are
using TM and not GNO or SI!. More strictly speaking I only know what
_MY_ reasons are. I guarantee you that I do not prefer TM because it
comes from Seven Hills or BrainStorm. (If you want I can send you some
reasons via e-mail).
If TM had premptive multitasking, it wouldn't be more attractive to me.
This discussion about preemptive and cooperative is a senseless
theoretical discussion that definitely does not belong to this
newsgroup. And when Ian _or_ someone else writes that cooperative
multitasking (or multiprogramming or whatever else) is inferior or
fakes multitasking, then I interpret this statement as a simple
provocation. And when you say you wrote it to annoy me, well, I pass it
over in silence.
 
I think we agreed after the TM/SI big bang that we leave the whole
thing at that. So please don't force it.
