Printer Problems

Hi, I've got a Panasonic KX-P1124i printer with an Apple //GS using
Pointless, Harmonie, and Express. I'm really getting anoyed by the fact
that is seems none of the desktop programs will allow me to use the draft
font on the printer so I can print at top speed. The only one was Orca
Prizm which spat out my source super fast. I've tried everything to get it
to use the printer's draft font but what happens is the head goes about an
inch and comes back (effectively jerking so hard it shakes the table) it
prints fast, but the jerking action slows it down to a crawl. I've (of
course) set harmonie to EXTERNAL, and set the function on the printer to
draft font and still get the same thing. I've even tried locking the
functions on the printer with panel lock, and it still won't work. If it
would go straight through to the end of a line before bringing the print
head back, it seems like it would be fast, but that's my main challenge,
getting the printer head to stop jerking back and forth while printing the
lines. I know this post was long winded, but I wanted to try and give as
many details as possible. Can somebody tell me what the heck I'm missing
here? Thanks very much....
Sean
