I can't remember which one is which, but they are intended for use
with the ImageWriter's two proportional modes (Pica Proportional and
Elite Proportional).  Somewhere in AppleWorks (in SEG.PR, I hope) is a
table of character widths for the two proportional sets.

It certainly is capable of it - with my ImageWriter, I can get 132
columns or so by setting 17 characters per inch.  You could also set a
larger platen width, tricking AppleWorks into outputting more
characters per line.  Don't try using Full Justification though - it
won't be a pretty sight unless AppleWorks knows the correct character
widths.
