comm sfwr for Apple *III*

I have an acquaintance with an Apple III, uses Appleworks with it.
Would very much like to have comm software on it.
So far, he has been able to find only software for the Apple ][ or //e,
and for whatever reason those programs won't work on his III.
Can someone tell me a package that *will* work on his system,
and where to get it?
