I'd like to hear that story - having been in a few of those situations myself! 400k is pretty tricky if you don't have just the right intermediary. And, if as he says, a Mac wouldn't read it... I wonder if a GS came to the rescue?More than likely he had to buy a 128/512k Mac or an external drive that is strictly for 400 kb disks. Even the Mac plus's were finnicky with 400 kb disks as they are an 800 kb drive. Some Mac SE's came with the high density drive for 1.6 MB but forget about reading 400 kb disks with them.
That's not true! There's a lot of hearsay about 400k MFS disks which I suspect is propagated by people who don't have personal experience with them. I can tell you all, _for a fact_, that any Mac computer which can run System 7.x or less can read, write, manipulate, image, etc.... 400k disk images.
I know that this is true, because back in March, I imaged around 20-30 MFS disks on a Mac Classic with a SuperDrive and System 7.1.
It's only when you get to Macs running OS 9 or OS 8 that your options become limited. But it's not total voodoo like some people seem to think that it is.
