Have you guys thought about the giant space hamsters (about 6-feet tall)
that gnomes use to power their Spelljammer ships? You only need 1 to 2 for
pretty hefty power supply. These hamsters can last a long time without
tiring and there's many different varieties with different advantages
(although I don't know about the smell).
For example, there's the fire-breathing kind. You could use it to run
a turbine while at the same time boil water to run a steam turbine. There's
another one where I'm sure you could burn the gas that it emits. (Hey, natural
gas :) The possibilites only end with the variety of giant space hamsters.
Problems though is I not sure how to get a hamster or feed them. If you try
to hunt them in the wild, they might accidently trample you to death as they
try to run and hide from you. <shrug> You might have to lug around big feedbag
but they might accidently step on you or eat you accidently as they try to get
at the feed bag. Then there's trying to get them to take a bath and....
Oh well, good luck on finding a good power source.
P.S.ever thought about a combination geothermal/solar/wind/water power turbine?
