Re: RFD: comp.sys.apple2 reorganization

My news feed was sick the past week, but I think this deserves a reply.

In article <1pa558$mce@gazette.bcm.tmc.edu>, Richard H. Miller writes...

The market for used Apple II equipment is fairly restricted. Why
post it to m.f.c where maybe 0.1% of the readers may show an interest in
your ad? Csa2.marketplace will concentrate all Apple II-related
articles in one newsgroup. Searching for an item of interest will be
much less difficult, and I'll bet you get a lot more responses than had
you posted to m.f.c. A lot of csa2 readers don't bother scanning m.f.c.
I know I don't. The Amiga and (I believe) the NeXT groups already have
similar subgroups, for similar reasons.

User groups aren't a single organization; they are linked only by
their common interest in a particular computer. It sounds like you are
implying that each user group should have its own newsgroup which is
clearly impossible. Csa2.ug will serve as a "brainstorming forum" and
as an additional support channel for Apple II users. As an executive
member of our local Apple/Mac user group, I'm convinced that such a
group will be of great benefit.
