Strange, I had no problems obtaining comp.sys.apple2.gno at
Scarborough which feeds off the helios.physics server. Perhaps you
should connect there instead of utstat? Or you can get an account on
r-node.hub.org (see my sig) which has a full feed, e-mail, shell access,
two v.32bis dial up lines for members, etc. It's quite a nice system.
Anyway, you're a reasonable person, Phil. The creation of a
newsgroup should based on its merit, not whether your site will receive
it. Forget for a moment that your site administrator isn't willing to
carry new groups. How would you judge the proposal, based on its merits
alone?

I don't think so, and many others agree. Csa2 is by no means as
large as some of the other high-volume newsgroups, but I feel there is
enough activity to sustain the four new newsgroups. Based on my
informal survey, 25% of the messages will fall into one of the new
categories. It is also reasonable to assume that traffic will increase
once those topics have been split off from csa2 (i.e., Doug Granzow's
a2-bbs mailing list merging with csa2.comm).
Follow-ups directed to news.groups and comp.sys.apple2.
