Here's one possibility: http://macgui.com/usenet/ it's read only at the moment but at least you can get access to the newsgroups.

I would like to add posting abilities, but unfortunately, the news server which I suck from is read-only, so no go. :-(

https://secure.giganews.com/signup/
has plans from $2.99-$14.99 per month, the 2 highest ones are special pricing. I use the $7.99 one, and it works fine, and doesn't break me.
Why not give it a look, at least?

Unfortunately, if I were to use their service to provide posting access for people on my site, then that would violate the GigaNews TOS. Same for Eternal September.

The only other 2 solutions which I've thought of would be to require each person enter his/her details for a Usenet server which allows posting. Unfortunately, this would require me to store usernames and passwords, which is a bit of a drawback.

The second solution would be for me to set up my own Usenet server, which is something I'd like to do, but also has a few hitches I'd have to get over first.
