Don't be confused by that... I imaging they ship it w/ System
5.04 because System 5 uses less disk space... and/or memory. If they
can have System 5.04 and squeeze backkup on 1 disk, it would be much
more economical than putting System 6.0 on one disk, and bakkup on the
other.

Smooth Launch is what it is called. It's a System 6.0
feature, but programs have been "Smooth Launch" aware for a while, as
Apple's technotes have documented the "proper" auxtypes for
applications. If you want older programs to smooth launch (assuming
it's a desktop program) change the auxillary type to $db02. $db02 is
safe, because it tells gs/os that it's a desktop program. There are
other bits definied, but it depends on the program.

The author of bakkup 2.0 said to delete your old preferences
file, because that would surely cause problems.
