"fileno" & Make

I'm busy porting PGP, and it's going nicely.

	Some questions:

I need "fileno" to get the refnum (to be used in "lseek" and other
functions from fcntl.h) of a file from the file pointer. I thought that it
would be in fcntl, but it wasn't.

Sometime when I use Make, after the first file is compiled, it says,
cc: don't know how to deal with <a bunch of control characters> and it quits
with a GS/OS error. Other times it doesn't do that. (It does that more often
that it goes on to the next file without complaint..) I don't know how to
replicate failing or not failing.. Any suggestiong on how to replicate not
failing?

Oh, one more thing-- I had to split the program into many segments.
Any suggestions on how to segment efficiently? I'm going to check with the
PGP people and see which portions of the code I should segment together so
that speed is improved.

	Thanks,
