If that 'backup' partition was properly formatted, then it should be
bootable, but ...

Well, the errors may be caused because you have removed the SCSI terminator
together with your original HD. What is the sequence in your SCSI chain ?

Just another note: You don't need to remove your original HD, if you want the other HD to boot. Simply change the SCSI identification of your 'backup' HD.
Make it higher than your 'original' HD's SCSI ID. The HD that has the highest
SCSI ID will boot. To change the ID, look at the HD's back panel. There should
be a switch that you can set to a number from 0 to 7.

If I remember correctly only the first partition of a HD is bootable with
an Apple SCSI card. With a RamFAST you can boot from every partition (if it's
formatted properly).
