Very interesting information regarding tool219. As far as mods go my objections
are not based on networking, but on other things (which I dare not go into!).
 
Can tool 219 be "fixed" or replaced? I have run ModZap over Appletalk so I
realize that it's not mods causing the problem. Now, since I couldn't care
less if Soundsmith or NT ever worked over Appleshare, the more important
issue for me anyway would be to wonder why Columns GS, etc...require it to
play mods or whatever...Couldn't a player be used?

Yes, now I guess the thing to ask is for Kenrick Mock, James, etc...to just
change VIAD and Columns GS to work along these lines. I haven't tested
Dueltris ...

It would most certainly be nice to have a translator between standard midi
and Synthlab.
