This is your lucky day!. I finally got an answer at the "old" Data
Transforms number. NOTE: It is not a current number - a friend answers
and passes stuff on to Bob Van Arsdale - A mover and shaker in the
Fontrix land for the past 18 years.

This question is getting REAL close to being a FAQ.

For those that don't know, Fontrix is a DOS 3.3 program that brought
GREAT fonts to the Apple ][ world and the Imagewriter. Using it from a
RAM disk was not at all bad. Also, ask in your mail, etc., about the
stuff available from the Fontrix club that made it an even greater
product.
