That depends on what YOU want from a word processor. AppleWriter is
now available as freeware (I think that is the correct term). The price
is right and it can do good word processing. AppleWorks classic is a
good word processor with some extra features like a spread sheet and
a data base. Also, it costs some money. AppleworksGS is a good word
processor. It includes additional features like telecommunications
and it also lets you use fonts and graphics in your document.
Now, you did not mention what YOU think a good word processor
should be able to do. I like the ones I mentioned. I no longer use
Applewriter, but I do use the other two and am able to do what *I* want
to do. Others have different standards/desires/expectations and may
find these products to fall short of their needs/wants/hopes.
It might be helpful to you to create a list of features you
want from a word processor, and then check out the abilities of those
that are available. If you can not find the one program that meets
all the items on your list, for the present, reduce the list to include
only those features that are mandatory. Then review what is available.
