Just make sure you have a record of the COMPLETE pathname of your ASCII file. 
In my experience this has been one of the greatest stumbling blocks for many 
people trying to do this. You MUST include /VOLUME.NAME/SUBDIRECTORIES/
FILENAME. When AppleWorks asks you for a pathname this is what you provide.
And remember to include the "/" at the beginning of the pathname. This is
crucial.
