This is a good example of the corporate world calling the shots. NeXTSTep
will exist on 486's, etc...and fast RISC workstations. That's what people
want in business (especially the Intel port). You can be sure that there
will be little demand for the DSP. It's a sad day...With the prices of Intel
based computers converging to zero, and the non-proprietary nature of them,
I'd be more than a little worried if I were running computers based on the
68k family and trying to cater to business.
 
It's extremely important to rediscover personal computing. Noone is doing that
at this time. Perhaps the Amiga...personally I'd prefer the Avatar. One needs
only an open platform, some good developers and a small user base.
