- >>question: exactly how well does it work? Say if you scanned a page of text
There is a product available from Comp USA, etc., named, "Scan-Align."
It works for a number of different scanners. It is constructed (in
round number terms):
1. 10in x 20in heavy piece of plastic which has grid lines.
2. A piece of clear plastic which is positioned above #1
3. Another 10in X 20in piece of heavy plastic with a 6.5in X 18in
"hole" in the center.
The three pieces are hinged at the top. In operation you:
1. Lift the top two pieces and position your paper per the instructions
printed on the bottom piece.
2. Lower the top two and insert a plastic "template" in the 6.5in
hole. These templates come with the unit and are of different shapes
for different scanners.
3. Put your scanner in the template and do your thing for the 1st scan.
4. Lift the top two pieces and reposition the original for the next
scan.
Sorry if this is confusing. It is quite simple once you have the
Scan-Align in front of you. There are 10 or so templates that are
available and two or three come with the unit. If your scanner isn't
included they will ship you the correct scanner template free. The
Quickie template comes with the unit (#3).
I can't remember the price, however, it wasn't too much and goes a long
way towards keeping you going down the page in a straight line,
etc. Now, if they would just come out with an attachment that kept the
speed constant instead of depending on my poor motor skills :-)
Hope this helps.
