Apple dealers *should* replace the //c motherboard for free if your machine is
in the serial number range known to have the serial port bug.  They did this
with mine.  I heard about the bug (I did have problems), took my machine in
and they replaced it for free -- with the Unidisk 3.5 motherboard.  The
reason is this : All standard //c motherboards (non-memory expansion, that is)
come from Apple with the Unidisk ROMs installed.  The only difference between
a standard //c and a Unidisk //c is the main ROM.

So if you have the modem port bug, and your computer has the right serial
number, you will likely get a free Unidisk upgrade.
