The FDHD controller from Apple will work with FDHD and 800K 3.5" drives.
I don't know if they will work with the venerable 400K format. I'm also
fairly certain that it won't work with the 5.25" drives (but that
shouldn't be a problem on a IIgs.) One potentially important point is
that it does *not* support a RAMdisk (/RAM5) if you have the board
installed in Slot 5. If you don't mind loosing /RAM5, you should
probably install the board in slot 5 and set the control panel to "Your
Card". You can then leave the control panel setting for slot 6 to use
the floppy port and your 5.25" drives will continue to work - with the
obvious proviso that you connect them directly to the GS drive port and
not the FDHD controller.
Any Macintosh compatible FDHD drive should work just fine with the FDHD
controller - I bought an AE FDHD for mine and it's working beautifully.
