converting gifs....

I'm having problems converting gifs for my GS, and was wondering if anyone
could help out...

First off, my way of getting the gifs is a little odd. I tried just
downloading them as binary files, but it (SuperConvert) wouldn't do anything
with them, so I had to do something else. Namely, using Fetch on the Macintosh
and then converting _those_ files using SuperConvert.

Now my problem is that I want them as background screens, but haven't been able
to get the palatte (sp?) right. It looks like the right colors when it pops
up, but when it gets it's own window or becomes the background, the colors get
_really_ messed up. (The Punisher has green arms...) Anyway, I tried using
the option that can create a new palatte for each line, to a max. of 256 colors
at a time, but it seemed to be caught in an endless loop or something, as it
never finished.

Anybody have suggestions? Thanks much!
