XV 2.21a certainly does NOT handle GIF 89a files - other than plain vanilla
graphics ones.  All it does is say: if this is a GIF89a, then treat it
the same as the GIF87a files.  Thus, one does not get any of the GIF89a
extensions.  The author has indicated to me several times that he is not
interested in providing full GIF89a support.

As for GIF.3200, I have never seen anyone previous to this claim that full
GIF89a support was provided by the software - which is the point that I
was making in the original posting.
