Appleworks GS -- YES, Appleworks Classic -- Sadly, NO
When Apple created the StyleWriter from the Canon engine, they made it
a "dumb" printer. The original Cannon BubbleJet, I am told, had enough
brains built into it to do an "Epson emulation mode" which it what your
friend would need - To operate from Appleworks Classic, the printer in
question needs to be able to act like a common dot-matrix type printer
which, unfortunately, the StyleWriter cannot do by itself.
If your friend is running a System 6 GS, the application "Teach" will
output to the Stylewriter.
Feel free to e-mail if I can answer any more questions.
BTW, I own a GS, a Mac Classic II, a StyleWriter, and an ImageWriter II.
The printer/computer combinations ARE interchangable. Now if the StyleWriter
was just AppleTalk-able ...
