Sider Hard Drive Bad Block

I have a 10Mb Sider harddrive that has bad blocks on a parition (thankfully
it's on the small 800k parition). I've formatted it, zeroed it, cussed at it,
and used Renaissance on it, but nothing seems to fix the problem. Can anybody
suggest a solution? Also, what exactly are "bad blocks"? Are they physical
disk errors or something else?

On another note, how can I utilize the full ten megabytes that I supposedly
have rather than the 8-9Mb that's available? I've heard that the harddrive can
be converted to a ProDOS drive rather than using the wacky Sider format, thus
gaining that "lost" storage space. Also, if it helps to explain my situation
further, I don't have the support software for the Sider as it was a hand-me-
down from a friend.

Any help appreciated! Thanks!
