It doesn't need to be, just half as good. ;-) Seriously, though, Virtual ][ has its place, and so does Sweet 16.
However, nobody has filed a bug about keys repeating. I've not seen this happen, so it's not something I've ever looked for. If you want something done about it, please do visit the bug form at http://bugzilla.syndicomm.com and file a report so I can look into it! I'd never heard of this problem until now.

As I recall, the repeating key problem does not happen in 8-bit apps, but only GS/OS programs. Some programs which I've had this happen in are: Wolfenstein, Teach, Finder, and GShrinkit.
I think what triggers the problem is a combination of keys being pressed, such as Command or Option. What happens next is that the last letter key pressed (also happens with arrow keys or space) will repeat, ad infinitum, as though I were still holding down that key. The only fix seems to be to press the Escape key, which will stop the repeating.
Hopefully that's enough information to get you started. I'm surprised that no one else has reported this!
