If you intend to but haven't yet responded to my earlier post, here's some 
more info:

I am now convinced the problem lies with the AE memory test not being 
compatible with ROM 03.  I had my son remove the memory card and try the 
test and it failed in the same manner.  However, I also had him try the 
Appleworks GS memory test and it works fine with the memory card removed 
but fails with the card installed.  For this one I have two possible 
answers.  First, that memory test is incompatible with the memory card 
itself.  Second, the fact that the memory card is only equipped with 512k 
instead of fully populated with 1.5Meg could be causing the problem.  Note, 
I previously checked that card in the same 512k configuration on a ROM 01 
machine and everything was hunky dory (using the AE memory test but not 
AWGS).

By the way, the memory card he has is an original GS-RAM (not GS-RAM II and 
not GS-RAM Plus).  I haven't checked with AE Tech Support yet regarding the 
compatibility of that card with ROM 03.  Anyone have their 900 number 
handy?
