I'm in the process of networking a bunch of computers over Ethernet
with a NeXT as a server. So far I can use it to send out AFP to Mac's
and PC's via IPT's uShare. This requires no software for the Mac's, just
the Chooser and Ethertalk Level2. Will the GS's implementation of Ethertalk
follow the Level II standards? In particular, are resources on a GS treated
in a similar way to those on the Mac? I find it rather neat that the folders
maintain their colours (record keeping enabled) with the Mac when running
it off a NeXT. Will this also be implemented on the GS?
One last item. Most printers are currently Localtalk, serial, etc...Will
Apple's Internet Software provide a similar functionality to say a hardware
bridge (I don't need TCP/IP-> Appletalk packet functionality as everything
is AFP, and not TCP/IP, based) in terms of dealing with Ethertalk and
Appletalk simultaneously active in a Mac? I realize there's lot's of Mac
stuff here but the GS and Mac network very nicely. Now where is that Ethertalk
board?
