Please help me, my GS is falling apart!!!!! :-(

Ok, here's the scoop, thanks for reading and I hope you can help...

My GS has been dormant for a while, about 2 months. I have recently
acquired a new hd to replace an old one that went bad. I plugged it
and the scsi card in but when attaching the ribbon cable to the back of
the GS I broke one of the screws that will connect the two cables together.
Nothing major I thought, just the casing more or less, not any wire or
cable or components of any kind hurt. Well this is when the trouble started,
I tried every utility that I have and nothing will recognize that scsi drive.
I know it works because I have plugged it into a mac and it has worked fine.
Any ideas what could be wrong?

Problem 2:
I also have a GS Ram Plus from applied eng, I had 2 megs on the board but
right before the hd went I had a heat build up that burnt out two of the chips
leaving me with only 1 meg. The problem with this is that the utilities that
once recognized the 1 good meg won't even recognize 1 chip. Is there anyway
of testing these chips or a way of testing the board?

Now you might be thinking that the heat also damaged the scsi board, but I had
that working 3 days ago on another hd until the cable problem, so I know
it works.

I started thinking that with all these components going bad that it might
be my computer, but I performed the self test with no boards in and
everything was good. I checked with the scsi card in and got a good system
and with the memory board in and it got so hot I actually started to smell
the thing, yet another problem...

Any ideas, speculations, hard facts, or guesses would be GREATLY appreciated.

Many, many thanks and,

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

Scott
