Disk drive probs, need new drive?
Hello, everyone!
As a previous (and very happy) Apple II+ owner, I was asked to
help out a friend with a problem with her Apple II. The system has
two Apple disk drives with a 3.3 controller. Disk drive 2 dosen't write.
The first thing that I looked at was the disk speed (I used Locksmith 4.1)
and discovered that it was off the scale on the fast side. I then tried
to adjust the speed by adjusting the little screw made for that purpose
at the back of the drive. I just barely touched the screw and the drive
speed indicator went to the other extreme, that is, off the scale on the
slow end. I am wondering if the drive has a bad speed regulator (or
whatever it is called). Is there any fix for this?
If there is no fix, does anyone have a spare disk II drive that
they would like to sell me cheap?
Thanks for any help......
