  It could be a problem with the speed of the drive slipping.  Have a look
at the bottom of your drive to see if there's a hole with a screw visible
inside--tweeking this should alter the speed of the drive.  Any decent disk
copy program should have a function to measure the speed of the drive, so
if you can boot the copy program up okay you can correct the problem quite
easily.
