Precisely!  This is the same configuration I have been running
for the past year or so... While I'm using AppleTalk cables to
connect the Plus and the GS, if the network is limited to just
two machines then you can use a serial cable instead...

The configuration I have is AppleTalk between the modem port on
the GS and the printer port on the Mac... a Telebit Trailblazer
on the Mac's modem port, and my trusty ImageWriter on the GS's
printer port... The GS is a ROM 3 with the modem port set to
AppleTalk in the control panel - this may vary with ROM 1 boxes.
The Mac running 7.0.1's personal server is great for testing
network compatibility of GS applications.  The GS can access any
large device on the Mac, unfortunately, the Mac knows very little
about the GS.  IMHO, the Mac is designed to serve GS's :)
