Refilling H-P DeskJet Cartridges

Some time back there were an articles about refilling the H-P
DeskJet ink cartridges using a hypodermic. I have several
questions: 

1. Where do you put the needle? (I see what looks like a likely 
   place on the bottom just behind the print head.)

2. Is a blunt needle required? I.e., along the lines of a 
   basketball inflator needle, only smaller?

3. What kinds of ink can be used and what is best?
