Strong magnetic fields will affect the integrity of any magnetic
media, be it a floppy disk, a hard drive's platters, a Floptical disk,
or a Bernoulli or Syquest cartridge. (MO cartridges might be a little
more resistant since, if I'm not mistaken, it takes a combination of
heat (from a laser) and an applied magnetic field to change them.)
The only media that are totally safe from the effects of magnetic
fields at this time are CD-ROMs and related optical storage methods.
