I'd like to add that not ALL TI buffer chips are defective for CTS tracking.

TI chips with 749 X on the first line after the TI insignia seems to work. 
The TI that Brendan tested was 614 X (or close to that number).  The numbers
may be dates they were manufactured.  614 = 198(6) 14th week, 749 = 198(7)
49th week.  The numbers are from memory, but one of the was definitely 6 and
the one that did work started with a 7.
