Wanted: good word processor for ][e

Hi all,

Trying to get another few months of use out of my trusty Apple (//c,
actually, with 1meg of memory a la Applied Engineering Z-ram),
I'm wondering if there is software available that I don't know about.
In particular, I need a word processor that does footnotes, and
basically is flexible enough to prepare manuscripts for journal
articles that involve no fancy stuff like equations or diagrams.  The
printer will be either a Deskjet or Bubblejet.  I have an old version
of Appleworks, and to my recollection it does not do footnotes.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.
