Not to insult your intelligence, but just make sure you're referring to
the 
corporate/developer Applelink, and not America Online, which many years
ago was
called AppleLink Personal Edition.  To mail to America Online, you mail
to 
username@aol.com

To mail to CompuServe, replace the comma in the address with a period and
add
@compuserve.com
